What an honour to get to work on the prequel to one of the greatest horror classics! Coming to Paramount Plus in September.
I spent many hours in a dark room with some spectacularly talented Kates for this epic 8-part series for Amazon prime, DEADLOCH. It can be described as a hilarious feminist noir crime thriller. What a combo! I might be biased but also you should definitely watch it.
Moodlab has two kick-ass screening and finishing rooms designed specifically to meet the needs of Melbourne’s best colourists, flame artists and editors. It’s not only the perfect environment for critical evaluation, but a beautiful contemporary space for important presentations.
I’m excited for the opportunity to bring colour grading into the main stream. Usually when I’ve spoken at events, it’s been within the film industry. I’m also very honoured to be on a panel with some very clever people and I can’t wait to hear what they have to say.
I love weird things and I especially love when I get to work on them! Can’t wait for audiences to experience ‘Nude Tuesday’ in all it’s quirky glory.
‘Love Me’ to premiere on binge on Boxing Day. It was wonderful to collaborate on the look with Cinematographer Earle Dresner ACS. One of our goals was to make Melbourne beautiful and according to reviewers, we even managed to make the Yarra look good. Success!
‘High Ground’, ‘The Newsreader’, ‘Frayed Season 2’ are all up for AACTA awards. Particularly excited for the cinematography noms for ‘High Ground’ and ‘The Newsreader’.
The brilliant Sarah Kendall is back with another season of Frayed. It was a joy again to work with the team.
I am super proud of the look cinematographer Earle Dresner ACS and I cooked up for The Newsreader. We studied old film stocks of the 80’s to come up with, what I think is, an original look quite unlike anything on Australian TV. The show is also AMAZING! Michael Lucas, Jo Werner, Emma Freeman and the rest of the team nailed it.
I had a pleasure working with director Aaron Wilson and cinematographer Stefan Duscio ACS to finish their feature, Little Tornadoes. It will premiere as part of MIFF. Unfortunately another opportunity missed to screen in person due to covid. This one really sings on the big screen.
In true 2020 style, colourists from all over the world will be catching up online at 'the Colorist mixer'. There are some amazing discussions and giveaways planned. Excited to be on the women in film panel with superstars Junbin Chen ('Robotropolis', 'A Second Coming') and Andrea Chlebak ('Elysium', 'Watchmen') with moderator Sarah Priestnall ('Rambo', 'O Brother Where Art Thou') Sunday, 4pm AEDT.
I’ll be joining Deidre McClelland CSI, Fergus Hally CSI and Warwick Field ACS to discuss the relationship between cinematographers and colourists. The event is open to anyone who is interested.
Super flattered to be featured by the CSI (Colorist Society International). Check out the article to hear about my experience on Relic and Escape from Pretoria.
Join me live in the grading suite!
I’ve created an all new workflow in response to these days of isolation.
Using screen sharing and sophisticated review tools, it’ll be just like we’re together again… well almost!
Another feature film I graded recently, High Ground, (an Australian western directed by Stephen Johnson and shot by Andrew Commis ACS), will have it’s premiere at Berlin Film Festival.
I’m very flattered to be featured on the first episode of a new web series focusing on innovative women. Keep an eye out for future episodes!
Congratulations to Michael Shanks, Latenite Films and the rest of the team! This was such a beautiful and fun film to grade.
Check out the trailer for a feature I graded earlier this year. It was such a dream to work on these gorgeous images with director Francis Annan and cinematographer Geoffrey Hall ACS.
Exciting news for one of the feature films I graded earlier this year, RELIC. Massive congrats to Natalie Erika James and the rest of the team! Can't wait for audiences to see your amazing work.
New comedy Frayed airs tonight on ABC! I had a great time working with DOP Matthew Temple to create a different look for England and for Newcastle.
Super excited to be featured on Free The Work along with so many other talented chicks in the biz. We were asked to put forward 5 projects and I’m happy to say all of mine were directed by women. Freya Esders, Natalie Erika James, Celeste Geer and Gracie Otto.
Short film, All these Creatures has taken out the ultimate prize, the Palme d’Or at Cannes Film festival.
I was super lucky to work on the Gurrumul documentary last year. With nearly every camera format you can imagine (including 8mm, 35mm, Red and Alexa), the filmmakers put a lot of love into the film. Celebrate the life of national icon; the late Dr Gurrumul Yunupingu by seeing (and especially hearing) his story and music in it’s full glory in cinema while you can.
Happy International Women’s Day! I recently answered a few questions for LBB alongside some other amazing female colourists. Interesting to read each other’s response to the question: “There's definitely a gender imbalance in colour grading. Why do you think it exists? Seems weird considering women see colour better, on average.”
The MIFF program has been announced!! Super excited to say that I graded the centrepiece gala film, ‘Three Summers’ directed by Ben Elton as well as closing night gala film, ‘Gurrumul’ directed by Paul Williams and two other features ‘The Song Keepers’ by Naina Sen and ‘All for One’ by Marcus Cobbledick and also short film ‘Sengatan’ by Frank Magree. Such a pleasure working on all of them!
